Leppert Business Systems is pleased to have recently completed an upgraded document management system at the chemistry department administrative offices for the University of Toronto.
Leppert Business Systems Inc., a Burlington Ontario based Office Document Strategies specialty firm is pleased to announce that they have recently completed the installation of a SentryFile Document Management system for the Chemistry Department at the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON.
This installation was developed to replace a pre-existing document management system that had failed to perform to the standards required by the department.
The SentryFile Document Management system will house all records of the department including purchasing records, research backup documentation, human resources records and other correspondence. Providing an easy to use, web browser based interface the new system will permit the administrative office to file paper and electronic records categorized for easy retrieval and archived for statutory retention purposes.
As part of the installation process, which commenced in late December 2010, Leppert managed the migration of approximately 45,000 documents from the existing data base of records into the newly installed SentryFile system. This migration was one of the key components of the install. It was especially challenging since the previous system was not operative and only the data base records were available to identify key index criteria to aid future searches.
With knowledge from the user group, the U of T IT support specialist and customized routines written by a Leppert data base analyst the files were able to be migrated and converted for input into the SentryFile system. This import was executed on a batch basis over several days due to the number of records and the complexities of the data base.
In choosing Leppert, representatives of the Chemistry department sought a suitable software package backed up by an experienced reseller which could provide onsite support when needed.
SentryFile is a strong, scalable web based document management package which can grow with the needs of a user while providing a very cost effective installation.
